Sewing DIY: Baby Rag Quilt

Since I’m a brand new Auntie to a precious little girl I’ve been spending a lot of time looking at tutorials for fabulous things to make for her. I’ve always wanted to make a quilt but don’t know that I have the patience or sewing skills I would need. I came across this great DIY for a Rag Quilt. It definitely looks like a project I can make! I’ve added it to my To-Do list! Check it out here!

Choosing the Right Craft Show For You

How I Display My Wool Wrapped Bangles at a Show

How I Display My Wool Wrapped Bangles at a Show

There is no exact science to choosing the right craft show that will bring in tons of sales for you. So much of it is based on the customers that day, who the other vendors are, the weather and of course the state of the economy. That being said here are a few tips I’ve learned to help you at least narrow down the shows that will be more likely to work for you.

First is to establish who your target market is and attend shows that will attract those people. If you make gourmet dog treats then shows that market to dog lovers or in areas that have many dog owners would be your shows of choice. But if you make metal spike studded punk rock jewelry you might not do so well at that craft bazaar at a retirement home…although it’s not impossible!

Learn How to Knit

You might remember a post a few weeks ago introducing Glenda from the Etsy Shop Wintergarden. She creates wonderful handmade knitted items. If you didn’t have a chance to read it you can find it here. After I chatting with Glenda and asking my questions for the blog post, I asked her if there was a book she would recommend for someone wanting to learn how to knit. It turned out she was the perfect person to ask because she’s a Librarian! Not only did she recommend a book but she also gave me a couple of great links that I wanted to share with everyone.

The book that Glenda recommended is the Ultimate Sourcebook for Knitting and Crochet Stitches. It is a reasonably priced book that includes step-by-step instructions and a ton of pictures.

For online help and videos Glenda suggests taking a look a the website Knitting Help and for left handed knitters she suggests this video. Hope this helps those of you who are interested in learning to knit I know I’m excited to learn! Enjoy! ♥

A Girlie How To

I love to be a girlie girl so it thrills me that things with ruffles, bows, lace and flowers are so “in” right now!

I’ve been inspired to try myself to make some cute little fabric rosettes. And where do you go when you want to learn how to do something? Well online of course. I found this great video to show me how. Originally I was going to write my own how to but since this video explains it better then I could hope to I thought I would just share the link instead.
So far I’ve made the few that you see here. I even used some pretty lace ribbon for one and I love how it turned out. I can’t wait to make some more from all the fabric I have just waiting for a project!
I’m envisioning everything I own will soon be covered in pretty little flowers! Check out the video and see how easy they are! Hope you have fun making them too!
