Dinner Party Wars is Looking for Artisans!

If I’m watching TV it’s usually on one of a couple channels…the most common of which is the Food Network. So when I received an email from the Casting Researcher for the Food Network show Dinner Party Wars I was very curious.

If you’re not a Food Network fan like I am you may not have seen Dinner Party Wars. It’s a fun competitive show where three couples take turns hosting the others for a dinner party in their home. Each couple is judged based on the food they prepare and the dinner party itself and the winning couple is awarded $1000 worth of professional cookware.

So now you’re probably wondering what this show has to do with artisans and why an invitation to participate ended up in my inbox. The Casting Researcher who contacted me said that in past seasons the focus of the dinner parties has been mostly based on the food. He would like to see some more creativity go into the planning of the party itself. His idea is to have participants who could for example make pottery and can serve the meal on their own handmade dishes or who possibly have a studio in their home so they could have their guests make their own piece as part of the entertainment.

I think this idea will add a great dimension to the show and also as an artisan just think of the amazing promotion opportunity this would be to have your work seen by all the viewers of the show. Obviously you don’t have to make pottery, anyone who makes any handmade creation could find a way to incorporate it into a dinner party.

For me participating in the show isn’t really an option (I’m so shy that I have a tendency to hide from cameras!) but I bet there are tons of artisans out there who have what it takes to make this a fun experience and maybe even come away a winner! You can partner with anyone so if you’re worried you don’t have the cooking skills or the space in your home choose a partner that does. My understanding is that they film in and around the Toronto area so take advantage of this opportunity being available right here in our own city! Here is the casting call card with a few more details and how to contact them for more information! Good luck! ♥

Vacation is over…Time to Catch Up (Vendor Calls!)

Sorry for the extended absence in my posts…I was enjoying a little family time (and escaping the heat of the city!) at my family cottage. It was a great little break but I’m happy to be back in the city and back online! While I was away I was able to spend some great time creating new jewelry (to be posted soon!) and becoming inspired with some great new ideas.

During my absence I know I’ve fallen behind on vendor calls so I wanted to post at least a couple today and I will be hunting for more to post in the next few days so be sure to check back (or sign up to follow my blog to be notified as soon as I post).

Dia De Los Muertos Festival of the Arts presents Craft and Cabaret at Revival Bar on November 6th, 2011. This event began in 2010 as a way to showcase local artisans and musicians who are unusual and unique. The event combines a Craft Fair from 11am to 6pm and is followed by a Vaudeville Cabaret show at 8pm. For more information about becoming a vendor their website.

The 2011 Pottery and Glass show still has vendor space available. This show is presented by the Ontario Clay and Glass Association and will be held at the CNIB Building in Toronto on October 14th to 16th. This is Toronto’s largest show focused on handmade Clay and Glass pieces. For more information check out their website.

The Toronto Waldorf School is currently accepting vendor applications for their Arts and Crafts Fair being held Saturday, November 19th. The Arts and Crafts Fair is being held at the same time at two other well attended events at the school ( The Annual Candlelight Children’s Fair, and the Village Market, a weekly organic farmers’ market). For more information see their Call for Artisans here.

As always don’t forget you can find a full listing of vendor calls by clicking the “Calls for Vendors” page from the menu above. If you know of any shows accepting vendors please be sure to let me know so I can add them to the list for others! Thanks! ♥
